Do you have a little biter in your house? (Don’t worry. It’s just a phase. Trust me on this one. We’ve been there, too.) This book is a great way to talk about what teeth are to be used for and also why they might feel like they need to bite. A gentle reminder to use your words and that teeth are for smiling. 🙂

Teeth Are Not for Biting by Elizabeth Verdick
Whose Teeth Are These? by Joanne Randolph
The Tooth Book by Theo. LeSieg
Dad, Are You the Tooth Fairy? by Jason Alexander
This is a fabulous story about how a dad and his son come to terms with growing up and starting to hear from friends and older kids that maybe some of the things you’ve always believed in may not be true. The advice from father to son in this book could be applied to Santa, the Easter Bunny or the Tooth Fairy. The bottom line is…”it’s a balance between their heads and their hearts. One without the other is an empty life.” This book is so touching and very thought provoking.

Nice Try, Tooth Fairy by Mary W. Olson
Emma’s lost tooth was picked up by the tooth fairy, but now Emma wants it back because her grandpa is visiting and she wants to show it to him. The tooth fairy, however, can’t seem to find the exact tooth that Emma lost and night after night brings her the wrong tooth…a hippo’s tooth, a porcupine’s tooth, a skunk’s tooth, an alligator tooth and an elephant’s tusk. Finally, the tooth fairy finds the right one and shortly thereafter Emma loses another tooth.

Clarabella’s Teeth by An Vrombaut
All of Clarabella’s friends get up in the morning, brush their teeth and then go off to play, but Clarabella is still busy brushing her teeth. By the time Clarabella gets all of her crocodile teeth brushed all of her friends are getting ready for bed and can’t play. Clarabella’s friends come up with a great idea though so she can get her teeth brushed AND have time to play.

A Pirate’s Quest by Laura Sams and Robert Sams
My boys were so excited the day that these two fun and talented authors came to their school, I knew I wanted to review one of their books on MommaReads. I contacted them and they were gracious enough to send us not only the book A Pirate’s Quest, but also the video, The Riddle in a Bottle, that goes along with it.
The Riddle in a Bottle is a funny, witty and educational film that covers everything from currents, to the water cycle, to ocean and pond life. Your kids will not only love this movie, they will learn and laugh out loud at the cute and funny animal voices all while they are trying to solve a riddle.
The book, A Pirate’s Quest, is about a pirate who has lost his peg leg in a lake. He realizes that the same currents that took his leg could also help him find it, so he travels through lakes, streams and oceans vowing to never give up until he does find it. I would recommend watching the movie first since it does a great job of explaining how water moves on the earth and then reading the book. This movie and book are fantastic together. Two thumbs up!

Pony Brushes His Teeth by Michael Dahl
Pony does a lot of things just like his dad: he eats a lot, picks out his toothbrush, squeezes out the toothpaste and brushes up and down. He makes sure to brush every single tooth. He also swishes and spits, just like his dad…but sometimes he misses the sink. Oops! This is a great board book to share with your little one.

I Want My Tooth by Tony Ross
The Little Princess is very proud of her twenty royal teeth and she counts them every morning and she brushes them every night. She is very troubled one day when she realizes that one of them is wobbly and not only is it wobbly, but it seems to be growing more wobbly each day. Then one day it falls out and is nowhere to be found! She is horrified! Everyone in the palace searches for it and you’ll never believe where it turns up.
