Cinderhazel: The Cinderella of Halloween by Deborah Nourse Lattimore

October 10, 2010 - 10:09 pm No Comments

Cinderhazel has the mean step-sisters and a godwitch. She also doesn’t have any way to get to the ball, but when her broom breaks, she gets there on a flying vacuum. There is also a prince-Prince Filthy Alarming. They end up living filthily ever after. This is a very cute story for all of those kids who are tired of the original version or are just looking for a cute and funny story.

The Paper Bag Princess by Robert Munsch

April 10, 2010 - 11:33 pm No Comments

Let me begin by saying that I am not a huge Robert Munsch fan. That said, I love, love, love this story. If you have a little girl, you need this book. Yes, need. It is not your typical princess story. In this story the princess is smart, brave and clever. After her prince is captured by the dragon she outwits the dragon to save her prince. After everything she has gone through to rescue him her hair is all messy, her pretty princess dress has been burned and replaced by a paper bag and she smells. The prince wants nothing to do with her now so she tells him off and they don’t live happily ever after. This book could lead to a great discussion with boys and girls alike!
