This book discusses many aspects of fall in an almost poetic tone-the language is beautiful and very descriptive. Falling leaves, raking, hibernating insects, colder air and warmer clothes, shorter days, pumpkins and planting bulbs are all discussed in this book. There is also a fun section in the back that includes fun fall nature crafts to do with your kiddos.

Clayton and Desmond fall in love with the same pumpkin. They water it, fertilize it and even give it sugar water to help it grow faster. The problem is that they are both watering it, fertilizing it and giving it sugar water…neither one of them knows that the other exists because they both come to the pumpkin at different times during the day. Well, with this much love and care the pumpkin starts to grow into a VERY large pumpkin. They do both end up meeting each other one night when they both come to cover up the pumpkin to protect it against frost and they come up with a very clever way to share their pumpkin.

This is a great website geared towards babies through preschoolers. It has finger plays, songs, lullabies, stories, nursery rhymes and games which are all great pre-reading activities. This is a fun, high-quality website to explore with your little one.

As you might have already guessed, this is a fun rhyming book about Mrs. McNosh’s squash that gets a little out of hand. As soon as she plants the seed in her garden, it starts to grow and quickly becomes so big that she’s not quite sure what to do with it. She does come up with a silly solution though that both her and her dog enjoy. Such a fun book to read aloud. 🙂

This is one of my all-time favorite reading websites for kids because not only is it high quality and interactive, it also covers everything from those kids who are just beginning to know their letters and letter sounds all the way to those kids who are beginning readers. I also like that once the children get to the beginning readers section, there are both fiction and non-fiction texts, Chinese fables, Greek myths, folk tales and plays. It also has a function where children can click on an icon if they come across a word they don’t know and it will say the word for them.

A book that is a good reminder that even a day that starts out bad can turn around to be a good day. Little yellow bird loses his favorite tail feather, but later on forgets about it and ends up flying higher than he has ever flown before. Little white dog gets tangled up in his leash, but works himself free and runs through the dandelions. Little brown squirrel drops an acorn, but later on finds the biggest acorn ever. The illustrations are charming and the text is simple and sweet.

I saw this book today at the bookstore and I immediately fell in love with it. First of all, if you know anyone who is expecting or just had a baby, go out and buy them this book. They will cry and when they are done crying they will hug you and thank you. This book celebrates how awesome moms are and all of the many, many talents that moms have and how many things they do for their children every day from sun up to sun down.
My mommy hung the moon.
She tied it with string.
My mommy’s good
at EVERYTHING.

Love this book! It is the adorable rhyming story of Mr. MaGee and his little dog, Dee, who decide to spend their day at sea. (See, told you it rhymes.) 🙂 While they are at sea they have a run in with a friendly whale. Things don’t go as planned and they have to be rescued by an unlikely group. Super cute!

There are so many things to love about this book. It rhymes, it gives children the opportunity to count backwards, it has a lot of repetition which is great for children’s participation which is wonderful for pre-readers and early readers and it has animal sounds. This book will appeal to children of many different age levels because it has so much to offer.

A very simple and straightforward book with very colorful illustrations that show how and when Apple Farmer Annie picks her apples, the various things she makes with her apples such as applesauce and apple cider, and how she loads up her trucks and drives to the city to sell her apples. There are also a a few recipes at the end of the book if you’d like to try out a few tasty treats for yourself.
