This is a book, but you can’t read it, you have to sing it. Well, you don’t have to, but you will. This is one of those tunes that you may have sang on the playground back in the day while jumping rope or doing a hand clapping game. The best thing about this book though is when you’ve read/sang the book with your child and then you hear them the next day singing the song in the next room. It is catching and it’s a fun one to pass along.

Going to the beach this summer? This is a great book to read before the beach, while you’re at the beach and when you get back.

This book was a favorite at our house for quite some time a few years back. The animals at the zoo have gone on strike. The giraffes are wearing turtlenecks to cover up their necks, the zebras have painted in their stripes, the tigers have stopped growling…you get the idea. The zookeeper is trying just about anything he can to pacify the animals but the animals still aren’t happy. Things take a turn, however, when the zoo gets a special visitor who is heart broken by the animal strike. The animals quickly realize how important their jobs are and return to their posts ASAP.

If your child loves to rhyme and/or sing, they will L.O.V.E. this book. Be careful though, it’s one of those tunes that gets stuck in your head and you will find yourself singing it long after you have put the book down.

This is a very cute story of a llama and his mama out for a long day of Saturday shopping. Things start out fine, but when things drag out for too long little llama loses it. The underlying story is one of patience and love and is one that all little llamas and their mamas can all relate to.

This is a new book for us and it is a keeper. It is the cute story of a group of kids who gather to have a dog wash when what shows up but a cat. Mayhem ensues. The kids manage to figure out how to have their dog wash even with the cat present and everyone is clean…for a while. The rhyming in this book makes it a very fun read and the illustrations are adorable.

It’s been a long time since I have read this book, but I still remember it very well…it has been seared into my brain I have read it so many times. It is a very cute book about animals and the sounds they make, or in some cases, don’t make. To top it all off it has adorable illustrations AND it rhymes.

I wish I could remember who told me about this book because I would thank them over and over again. It is such a fun book to read out loud. I didn’t know about this book when our oldest was young enough to enjoy it, but we definitely made up for it with our youngest. It’s the kind of book that gets stuck in your head and you will catch your kids (or yourself) marching around the house to the rhythm of the words in the book…one hand, two hands, drumming on a drum, dum ditty, dum ditty, dum, dum, dum. Enjoy!

This book made its way into our house before our oldest was born. I started reading it to him every night before he was born and then at bedtime after he was born. It is a sweet and perfect bedtime story with illustrations that are as warm and cuddly as the story.

We were introduced to this book when it came in our box of Cheerios a few years ago and we instantly fell in love with it. Clorinda is a cow who aspires to be more than a cow…she wants to dance! She is told that she can’t dance by many, but she doesn’t give up. She leaves the farm and heads to the city, where after many no’s, she finally finds a spot in the corps de ballet. She practices, practices and practices and finally gets her chance in the spotlight where she promptly smashes her dancing partner after landing on him. Poor Clorinda realizes that her dancing career needs to find a different path. She doesn’t give up though. She does eventually find a stage where she can show off all of her moves, it’s just not where she expected to end up.
