Oh me, oh my…how many times have I read this book? This was a super huge hit in our house when our boys were toddlers/preschoolers. There are a zillion things to look at on each page and although it is a fiction book, there are some fun things to learn. The book is divided into “chapters” which are also good stopping points so your little one doesn’t talk you into reading the whole book in one night. For example, one chapter shows how Betsy Bear’s letter gets all the way to her grandma’s house, another chapter shows how trees get chopped down and all the ways we use their wood and another chapter shows how new roads are built. I loved Richard Scarry when I was little…his stories are timeless and his illustrations are endearing.
